The 2014 Syrah Castelli-Knight Ranch is terrific. The natural intensity of this drought vintage comes through in the wine's depth, but all the elements are very nicely balanced. Sweet red cherry and pomegranate fruit are front and center. Pliant and racy, with terrific resonance, the 2014 offers a compelling interplay of silkiness and pure power. Floral, white pepper, orange zest and spice notes add an exotic upper register.

Inky dark fruit, tobacco, scorched earth, herbs and leather flesh out in the 2014 Syrah Castelli-Knight Ranch. One of the more voluptuous and overt wines in the range, the Castelli-Knight exudes breadth and volume in all of its dimensions. The 2014 was done with no whole clusters, which helps bring out the fruit character nicely.
The 2014 Syrah Castelli Knight Ranch is shaping up to be a gem. In this vintage, ripening was clearly much more even than in 2013, which is evidenced by the polish in the tannin, even at this early stage. Sweet dark cherry fruit, lavender, violet and spice are all nicely delineated. The 2014 is beautifully balanced throughout.
