A wine that was first made in 1995, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon comes all from the Oakville estate, and it’s a blend of multiple terroirs. (The vineyard covers 46 acres.) It has a great nose of savory darker currants, iron, and black olives, and it’s a perfect example of great Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon. Raised in 80% new oak, it’s medium to full-bodied, has a round, supple mouthfeel, and a great finish. It’s certainly mature yet will evolve gracefully going forward.

A solid cabernet with dense fruit intensity yet firm structure, plus tension and beauty. Full-bodied and fruit-forward, but I like the contrast of fruit and tannins. Drink or hold.
The full sensuality of 2012 comes through in Plumpjack's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon. Rich, layered and sumptuous in the glass, the 2012 is absolutely striking. Espresso, mocha, rose petals and spices wrap around the radiant finish. This is such a gorgeous example of the year and one of the truly great sites in Napa Valley. The Reserve gets most of the attention at Plumpjack, but in the 2012, the straight Cabernet Sauvignon is nearly as stellar.
