Bright, dark red; a bit more saturated than the Mazis. Knockout, slightly liqueur-like aromas and flavors of dark raspberry, boysenberry, rose petal, licorice and mint, complicated by musky soil tones. Pure silk on the palate but with its uncanny thickness of texture leavened by energy. This wonderfully tactile, savory wine saturates every square millimeter of the palate and finishes with powerful medicinal reserve and incredible building length. And yet there's no impression of weightiness here. This could be enjoyed right now with the right piece of meat, but I'd rather lay it down for eight or ten years.

One of the more backward, tight and reserved wines in the lineup, especially compared to the Bonnes-Mares, the 2015 Chambertin Clos-de-Beze is all promise at this point, but man, is it loaded with potential! Framboise, liquid violets, exotic spices, orange blossom, and a beautiful minerality all emerge from this seamless, silky, perfectly balanced 2015 that glides across the palate. Possessing a tight, structured, vibrant profile, integrated tannin and acidity, and thrilling purity of fruit, give bottles 5-7 years and enjoy over the following two decades.
Dark crimson. Exotic ripe black fruits on the nose – more obviously fruity than some. Quite heady. Dense with the tannins almost submerged in fruit. So unformed! All the components are swimming around waiting to coalesce. (JR)
Bright, dark red-ruby. Subdued but very pure nose hints at blackberry and violet, plus a whiff of leesy complexity. Densely packed and tightly wound; at once more elegant and less expressive than the Mazis-Chambertin, with intense purple fruit flavors lifted by a licorice element. As youthfully imploded as this wine is, it's not at all rigid, and its substantial, serious tannins are neither hard nor dry. Finishes with stunning palate-staining perfume and length.
