Punteggio 88+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2004
Deep ruby-red. Expressive aromas of black cherry, wild red berries, bitter chocolate, cardamom and sweet herbs. Bright, fresh and rather oaky, with racy acids giving the wine good cut. Finishes with a firm tannic spine and a repeating note of wild berries. Boasts good persistence but comes across as tougher today than the Sonoma County bottling. This needs 18 to 24 months of additional bottle aging.
