Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2021-2023, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2023

The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill is a powerhouse. Dried herbs, leather, menthol, orange peel, spicecake, dried cherry, saddle leather and pipe tobacco are signs of a wine that is fully mature. The 2001 has a lot of depth, but the aromatics are maturing at a faster rate than the fruit or the tannins, which remain pretty fierce. Significant replanting at Chappellet began in 1991, so most of the fruit in this wine was from relatively young vines. Ultimately, the 2001 has not aged particularly well.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2018-2028, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, May 2018

Composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot and 5% Merlot, the medium brick colored 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill Estate Vineyard gives intense notes of mocha, cherry cola and dried plums with nuances of baking spices, Sichuan pepper and wood smoke. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins and plenty of dried plum and exotic spice flavors, finishing a little grippy.
