Note di degustazione
(45% from Pritchard Hill fruit, 45% from Rutherford and 10% from Oakville): Bright medium ruby. Superripe aromas of cassis, blackberry, bitter chocolate, anise and toasted pecan. Concentrated, broad and pliant, with blackcurrant and chocolate flavors enlivened by a sweet/tart note of cranberry. Serious, firmly structured cabernet with a real pop of fresh fruit on the back end. This is the label of Celia Welch, who also makes wine at Scarecrow and several other Napa Valley properties. The Pritchard Hill fruit gives this wine its tannic spine, she told me, while the Oakville component provides lift.

Celia Welch is the winemaker for a number of prestigious estates in Napa Valley. Corra is her own label. The Cabernet Sauvignon is made from Rutherford, Oakville and Pritchard Hill. The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is bigger, richer and more expansive than the 2008 tasted alongside it. Layers of blue and black fruit, spices and flowers flow gracefully from this textured, inviting wine. The 2009 possesses an inner glow and warmth that is immensely appealing. An elegant, finessed finish rounds things out beautifully. This is a terrific showing from Celia Welch.
