Note di degustazione
Kapcsandy's 2021 Roberta's Reserve State Lane Vineyard is 100% Merlot, matured in 72% new French oak, which barely registers on the nose. Hints of piney, resinous herbs accent fresh red and black cherries. It's medium to full-bodied and reasonably structured for Merlot, with ample tannin on the mid-palate married to excellent ripeness, leaving behind a dusty slick on the long-lingering finish. It actually weighs in at the same 14.5% alcohol as the 2022 but with a lower pH, making it seem fresher and more tightly wound, with ample aging potential.

The 2021 Roberta's Reserve is smoking good and shines for its incredible purity and finesse while bringing beautiful intensity. Ripe black cherries, darker chocolate, graphite, and hints of flowers all define the bouquet, and it's medium to full-bodied, with ultra-fine tannins and flawless balance. You could drink this even today, yet it's going to gain even more complexity and nuance with 4-6 years of bottle age and will shine for at least two decades.
The 2021 Roberta’s Reserve (100% Merlot) is a wild, exotic wine. Soaring aromatics meld into a core of pliant, dark-fleshed fruit. Blackberry, plum, mocha, espresso, licorice and incense are all beautifully amplified in this dramatic edition of Roberta' s. The power, intensity and textural resonance of this drought vintage come through loud and clear. Time in the glass brings out more floral and red-toned nuances to complement the wine's dynamic personality.
The 2021 Roberta's Reserve, tasted from a base barrel of pure Merlot, is supple and engaging. Succulent dark cherry, plum, spice and menthol lend quite a bit of immediacy, all framed by silky, super-elegant tannins. There's good depth and notable persistence, not to mention tons of sheer character.
