Darker currants, smoked tobacco, cedar pencil, and a Pauillac-like minerality and graphite character all emerge from the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, a concentrated, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon offering solid balance, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. It's less evolved than the Hexameter yet is still smack in the middle of its drinking window.

Made up of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot, the 2014 Proprietary Red Wine has a deep garnet-purple color and is a little closed to begin, opening slowly to reveal a core of crushed blackberries, warm cassis and cedar chest with nuances of menthol, unsmoked tobacco, Sichuan pepper, tilled soil and mossy bark. Full-bodied and rich, with tons of muscular fruit, the palate is packed with tightly wound black fruits and earthy accents, framed by firm, grainy tannins and invigorating freshness, finishing very long and mineral laced.
The 2014 Ovid is gorgeous. Rich, ample and layered, it's in a great spot today. Dried flowers, herbs, blood orange, spice, mint, leather and cedar build nicely, filling out the layers with effortless grace. Still very young and vibrant, the 2014 is showing exceptionally well today. This has developed beautifully with time in bottle.
