Note di degustazione
The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve To Kalon has lots of classic Cabernet green and herbal notes as well as tobacco leaf, cedar, and assorted dark fruits. Nicely balanced, full-bodied, and elegant, it’s another 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that has a classic, Old World, Bordeaux-like style. It’s drink nicely now but has another 10-15 years of prime drinking.

Black cherries, plums, mocha, leather and cloves are some of the many notes that meld together in the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve To Kalon Vineyard. A dark, pliant, brooding wine, the 2011 has an element of gravitas that is impossible to miss. All the elements meld together nicely in the glass. Hints of black cherry jam and spices show an element of racy sweetness from the late harvest. This is the first vintage in which the Reserve is 100% To Kalon.
The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve To Kalon Vineyard is the first year in which the Reserve is made exclusively from To Kalon fruit. The power and intensity of this site, along with the structure of the year, comes through loud and clear in a focused Cabernet Sauvignon loaded with class and personality. Bright floral, spiced and red-toned fruits are a reminder of the long, cool growing season. Readers should give the 2011 at least a few years in bottle. It will be interesting to see how the Reserve in its new incarnation develops. There appears to be plenty of potential though. The 100% new oak barrels are integrated beautifully.
