Note di degustazione
The first time I've tasted this cuvée, the 2021 Red Blend To Kalon Vineyard Reserve checks in as 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Petit Verdot and Malbec that spent 20 months in new barrels. Its deep ruby/plum hue is followed by a tight, more inward red that has impressive red and black fruit, scorched earth, and graphite that turns spicier and more nuanced with time in the glass. With medium to full-bodied richness and depth on the palate, this absolute classic blend has terrific overall balance, building, rock-solid tannins, and outstanding length. A serious wine that benefits from air, it’s going to reward 4-5 years of cellaring and cruise over the following two decades. It's a classic, gorgeously complex, layered wine.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon To Kalon Vineyard Reserve is 94% Cabernet Sauvignon (Clones 4, 31 and 337) and 3% each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Like the red blend, it spent 20 months in 100% new French oak. Subtle tobacco and cigar box shadings accent black cherries and cassis on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is rich and velvety, showing ample length on the finish.
