Note di degustazione
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard comes from a site on Howell Mountain that's planted in nine blocks, each of which is planted on two different rootstocks. Each parcel is picked, fermented and barreled separately, yielding at least 18 different lots from a vineyard that's only 15 acres in size. On the nose, it reveals a hint of mint, followed by deep, earthy loam notes and black fruit, all underscored by vanilla and cigar box. Full-bodied, plush and expansive, this generous, open wine finishes with serious length.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard comes from a site just outside of St. Helena and vines planted in 2002. Offering tons of minerality as well as notions of smoky dark fruits, tobacco, new leather, and truffly earth, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great, great finish. As with all the 2018s here, it's flawlessly balanced and a heavenly, singular Cabernet Sauvignon.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard delivers powerful scents of blackberry preserves, chocolate-covered cherries and stewed plums, giving way to red and black currant jelly, beef drippings and wild fungi. Full-bodied, tightly wound and shimmering with tension in the mouth, it has a solid frame of firm, grainy tannins supporting the reticent fruit, finishing savory and with lots of latent energy. All the signs say that this baby is holding back right now and has more to give with considerable cellaring. Tuck it away for at least 5-6 years and then enjoy it over the next 40 years+. Rating: 99+
