2016 Vire Clesse Vercherres Vieilles Vignes

(this and the following wines were tasted from barrel; 20% new oak): Light yellow. Exotic aromas of pineapple, stone fruits and strong gingery oak. Good salty minerality here but today the wine's fruit is overshadowed by wood. A bit of noble rot here may have intensified sugars and acidity (4.5 g/l). Nicely dense wine with bright spicy acidity, from vines around 55 years of age.
