The 2014 Liguai was sourced from their best Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère estate vineyards and was first produced in 2002. The breakdown in 2014 came down to 46% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Carménère. The three grapes fermented separately in stainless steel tanks and aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, half of them new. The wine is named after the name of the estate, the property where the vineyards are located. It is a kind of Chilean blend developed with the help of Alvaro Espinoza, who has consulted here since 2002. He was the one who pioneered this blend of the three grapes with his Antinyal, and then others followed, like this one. There is higher ripeness here than in the rest of the Pérez Cruz portfolio, looking for a more powerful wine, a wine that has kept the style from the early 2000s, with a little more oak and a little more extraction. I sampled the 2006 to check the evolution and even if they say they have kept the style I found the 2014 a lot more elegant and balanced than that 2006. 13,600 bottles were filled in march 2016.
