Note di degustazione
The 2009 Châteauneuf Du Pape Réserve Secrète continues to show brilliantly, offering a healthy ruby hue as well as remarkable intensity in its ripe red and black fruits, minty garrigue, flowers, and sandalwood/spicy nuances. It's medium to full-bodied, has a beautiful sense of freshness, still present tannins, and a great finish. It brings a terrific mix of richness, elegance, and complexity and is just a joy to drink today. It should continue to evolve gracefully over the coming 8-10 years, but I certainly see no need to delay gratification. Based on 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, it was vinified in concrete tanks and aged in 65% new barrels and 35% concrete tanks for 18 months. Drink: 2025-2034.

Confected cassis aromas perhaps with an acetic note – not entirely unpleasant, but lending a medicinal quality to the nose. Rich and full on the palate with quite chalky tannic grip on the finish. Gives plenty of Grenache intensity. (RH)
Rich, concentrated, fleshy and deep, the wine is full bodied, with polished tannins and rich textures. On the palate, there is depth of flavor, finishing with a melange of dark red fruits, spice, earth and licorice. The wine was made from blending 65% old vine Grenache with 35% Syrah. 95 Points
A 60/40 split of Grenache and Syrah, the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape la Reserve Secrete is a much more open, flamboyant and sexy wine, especially when tasted beside the more backwards, tight and structured 2010. Kirsch, spice box, incense, flowers and garrigue all emerge from this beautiful, full-bodied, sexy 2009 that has sweet tannin and a great texture. Drink it anytime over the coming 10-15 years.
