The 2012 de Malle has more complexity on the nose compared to its peers, greater energy with scents of peach, dried honey and saffron. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, not that viscous. For me, it just lacks botrytis and consequently comes across more like a sweet white than a Sauternes. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting.

Tasted blind. Thick and sweet. With lots of botrytis. Luscious and almost over the top in terms of sweetness. Chewy finish. (JR)
Tasted blind. Pale greenish gold. Paler than most. Fresh, refreshing nose with some focus. Fairly light and a tad sugary. Simple pear-juice flavours. But not much length. (JR)
Slightly cloudy. Orange and apricot aroma with a touch of cedary oak. Juicy and fresh, with sweetness and acidity finely balanced. Concentrated in the middle and sustained. (JH)
