Note di degustazione
Selected from a single, rocky parcel planted to Clone 7 on Saint George rootstock, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Family Reserve is a concentrated, medium to full-bodied wine that's built for the cellar, with fine-grained tannins that seem to build on the finish. Scents of camphor, creosote and cassis seduce initially, then linger elegantly on the lengthy finish.

A big jump up in price, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Family Reserve is cut from the same cloth, with an incredibly floral character as well as beautiful blue fruits, notes of graphite, tobacco, and cedar, medium to full-bodied richness, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's not a blockbuster yet is elegant, has ripe, polished tannins, terrific overall balance, and a great finish. It's another terrific wine from this estate. Give bottles 2-4 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following 20-25 years or more.
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Family Reserve is silky and nuanced from start to finish. It is a bit less flamboyant than the Perseid, but just as compelling. Inky black fruit, chocolate, lavender, dark spice and new leather open first, all supported by tannins that are unusually finessed for a young Coombsville. This is such a gorgeous wine.
