The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Family Reserve is fabulous. Rich and inky in the glass with tremendous concentration, the Family Reserve is also one of the most opulent 2017s readers will come across. Blackberry jam, cloves, menthol, licorice, new leather, cedar and grilled herbs all add layers of complexity, but the 2017 is really a wine of opulence above all else.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Family Reserve opens with cedar and pencil lead scents giving way to a core of black currant cordial, plum preserves and mulberries with touches of spice cake, candied violets and wild sage. The palate is full-bodied, firm and grainy with seamless freshness cutting through the muscular fruit, finishing earthy.
