2011 Nine Suns Proprietary Red

The 2011 Proprietary Red was served it last, and almost reluctantly, but it may very well be the best wine off this site so far. Fresh, nuanced and also quite powerful, the 2011 offers exceptional balance, with a compelling interplay of inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, white flowers and mint. It's too early to know where the 2011 will go, but today, it is a total knock-out. The Chang family did not want to debut their new project with what was widely perceived as a difficult vintage, so the 2011 has never been commercially released. But extreme and challenging vintages bring out the best in people, and that is exactly what happened here. The 2011 is a fabulous wine by any measure.
