Healthy full red. High-toned, musky perfume of redcurrant and pepper. Juicy, savory and soil-driven, with spicy acidity keeping the redcurrant and iron flavors under wraps today. A distinctly savory, dry style of Chambolle, a bit reduced and hard to taste today.
The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny les Groseilles 1er Cru has a very feminine bouquet, the fruit more red than black, unlike its fellow Chambolle Premier Crus, with orange sorbet, raspberry puree and even a touch of fresh fig. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins and a very sensual, silky finish that glides across the mouth. This will be very seductive once in bottle, even if it does not quite have the ambition of the Feusselottes '13 at this moment.
