Medium red. Musky, savory aromas of red berries and earth convey a slightly wild aspect. Supple in texture but with refreshingly tart cranberry and pomegranate fruit flavors framed by bright acidity. Finishes with firm but rather suave tannins that avoid dryness. This very successful village wine, which I underrated a year ago, needs at least a couple more years of aging; it will rely more on its acidity than on its tannins for longevity.

Medium red. Aromas of cherry, raspberry and flowers display a honeyed nuance. Juicy red berry flavors are a bit lean but convey good energy. Finishes with a touch of sweetness but slightly edgy tannins. A majority of this fruit is from Les Bussières, on the border with Morey-Saint-Denis, but Taupenot also owns a higher-altitude parcel above the premier crus in Chambolle-Musigny.
The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny Villages has a crisp, red cherry and raspberry bouquet infused with a touch of wild mint that gently opens in the glass. The palate is nicely structured with supple tannin, fresh, slightly gamey red berry fruit with an understated, tightly wound finish that will open up after a couple of years in bottle.
Two parcels. Mainly Bussières and also La Taupe. Vines over 40 years old. Broad and quite rich. Could taste quite like a spicy Morey. Very good for a village wine. (JR)
