Note di degustazione
Deep crimson. A complex, expansive bouquet evokes smoky red and blue fruits, potpourri, licorice, game and garrigue . Stains the palate with sweet boysenberry, black raspberry and lavender pastille flavors sharpened by building spice and mineral notes. Finishes with strong tenacity, a touch of smoked meat and youthfully gripping tannins.

Not yet bottled, the 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape nevertheless is loaded with potential. Rocking notes of black raspberries, new saddle leather, spring flowers, and ground pepper all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, deep, layered 2017 that has ripe tannins and a great finish. It's going to hit the ground running and drink spectacularly well for 10-15 years. The blend is 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, and the balance Cinsault, brought up in foudre and demi-muids. This estate continues to work its way up the hierarchy in Châteauneuf du Pape and today are fashioning some of the most exciting wines in the appellation. While no 2018s reds were submitted, both 2017s showed brilliantly.
A blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape boasts slightly peppery aromas and mixed red berries on the palate. It's medium to full-bodied, with a silky feel; it just lacks a bit of richness and length on the finish. It should drink well for close to a decade.
20% Grenache Blanc, 20% Picpoul Blanc, 20% Bourboulenc, 20% Roussanne, 20% Clairette. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Stewed apples, spices and a very savoury, almost austere finish. Full and fleshy with a lot of heat. Bold, potent Châteauneuf. (RH)
