Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2004-2015, Robert Parker, Feb 2005

The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (a blend of 86.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8.7% Merlot, and 4.7% Cabernet Franc) exhibits a dark ruby/purple color as well as tightly knit aromatics consisting of sweet black fruits intermixed with mineral and earth characteristics. Medium-bodied, with softer tannins than its bigger sibling (the Estate Cabernet), it is designed for restaurants seeking a classic Napa Cabernet with immediate appeal, although it is ageworthy. Tel. Punteggio 87+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2004

(this was previously labeled as the Calistoga Cuvee) Bright ruby-red color. Dusty, slightly rustic aromas of dark berries, maraschino cherry, shoe polish, licorice and leather. At once sweet and cool, with notes of cassis, cola, licorice, menthol, rust and damp earth. Rather brooding young cabernet, finishing with slightly tough tannins and medicinal notes of cassis, licorice and mint.

Good bright ruby-red. Superripe but lively aromas of currant, black cherry and licorice; conveys a strong crushed berry character. Juicy, bright and nicely delineated; at once sweeter and more aromatic in the mouth than the 2000. Finishes with serious tannins that avoid hardness.
