Note di degustazione
Mont Olivet’s 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape is a classic, with tons of garrigue, dried cherries, spice-box and street market like characteristics in a medium-bodied, focused, classy package. It’s still not yet fully mature and will drink nicely for another decade, easily. The blend is 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 6% Mourvèdre and the rest an assortment of permitted varieties, all aged in concrete tanks and old foudre.

Hint of animal and warm bricks on the nose. Then very complete and ripe and engaging. Great balance and integrity. Lots of real richness with tannins very well hidden. But definitely there in abundance.
This estate produced an outstanding ’06 and the 2006 Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape has meaty dark fruit, earth and licorice aromatics, medium body and a pure, precise feel. This picks up fine grained tannins on the long finish and could benefit from short term cellaring.
Medium red. Very fresh, spicy aromas of raspberry and redcurrant, with a gentle floral accent. A sweet, finely etched midweight with fresh red berry flavors, supple texture and gentle spiciness. Finishes with an echo of raspberry and excellent clarity. This is already drinking well.
