The NV Verdelho 15 Years Old comes in at 20% alcohol, with 81 grams of sugar and 6.9 grams of acidity, of which 0.77 is volatile acidity. It has a very bright amber-orange color and is in the style called medium-dry, with notes of caramelized fruit, a honeyed touch and some nuts and varnish. It has an intense palate with concentration and dry extract, long and persistent.

100% Verdelho grown on mixed volcanic soils and hand-harvested mid to late September. Fermented with some whole clusters with skin maceration in lagares with native yeasts. Aged in canteiro for a minimum of 15 years. Winemaker: Humberto Jardím. TA 6 g/l, pH 3.5, RS 71.9 g/l. Dark, rich tawny. Floral perfume and just a little hint of wood. Not quite as revitalising as the 10 Year Old Sercial. (JR)
Pale lustrous tawny. Lots of gunsmoke and rancio. Good exciting stuff that has masses of acidity as well as a little bit of tannin. Hope The Wine Society does stock it eventually! (JR)
Much less expressive on the nose than the Sercial 2001. Some nutty caramel. Then real power on the palate. Intense citrus and just a slight hint of date. So intense it is hard to taste the flavours separately – you just taste the whole. Deep apricot on the finish. (JH)
