Another new offering, the 2015 Zinfandel Whitney Tennessee is laced with the essence of cherry pit, crushed rocks, savory herbs, licorice and dried flowers. This is an especially savory/mineral-driven style, which is not surprising given the high percentage of rocks in the vineyard. Bright rose petal, mint and cinnamon, along with beams of supporting tannin, are among the signatures. Whitney Tennessee is a pre-Prohibition site in the Alexander Valley. Since 2009, fruit from this site went into the Old Vines Zinfandel. This is certainly a promising debut for the vineyard designate.
