Note di degustazione
Good full red. Complex nose melds cherry, plum, spices, nuts and smoky oak. Concentrated, suave and sophisticated, with a slightly wild blue and black fruit character complicated by spices. Dense and fine-grained pinot, finishing with silky tannins and noteworthy complexity. Similar in style to the superb 2003 example.

The 2004 Pinot Noir Blue Slide possesses a classic floral, herbal, and blueberry-scented nose with hints of soy, underbrush, and flint. The wine is deep, rich, medium to full-bodied, long, and velvety-textured. It’s a beauty from that cool-climate site on the Sonoma Coast. This wine had just been bottled when I tasted it, so I suspect my ratings might be somewhat conservative. Before readers inundate the office with questions, the Martinellis were not happy with the Syrah vineyards in 2004 and did not make any wines. (Release date 9/06) Tel. Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
