Note di degustazione
The 2020 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard is a wine of real depth and density. Black pepper, game, licorice, incense and lavender give the 2020 its wild, savory personality. There are some angular contours, but the Library Petite is well done, within the context of the vintage. Give the tannins a bit of time to soften. (AG)

The 2018 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard, inky purple-black in the glass, has very pretty aromas of blueberries, boysenberries, pure violets, cast iron, beef drippings and aniseed, with more nuances emerging after time in the glass. The full-bodied palate has surprising freshness, and although it packs in the perfumed fruits, it maintains lift and energy and finishes long and spicy. (EB)
The 2017 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard has grown into a positively stunning wine. Rich, deep and potent, the Library is a wine of real structure as well as pedigree. Dark cherry, red plum, menthol, licorice, spice and tobacco are some of the many notes that infuse the 2017 with tremendous character. This is such a gorgeous and distinctive wine. (AG)
The Library vineyard was planted between 1880 and 1920 to several varieties including Cinsault, Syrah, Mission, Alicante Bouschet, Carignane, Grenache, Zinfandel, Muscat of Alexandria, Muscadelle and others (there are 24 varieties in total), all intermixed in the vineyard. The grapes are all picked at the same time and vinified together. Very deep opaque purple-black in color, the 2017 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard has a very savory nose of dried mushroom, toasted coconut, bacon fat, dried lilac and violets over a dense black fruit core with notes of black cherry and blackcurrant liqueur. Full-bodied and huge in the mouth, the singular palate is very savory, with an absolutely indestructible black and blue fruit core plus touches of perfume and earth, framed by very firm, chewy tannins and just enough freshness to carry the finish. 350 cases produced.
