The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyard 7 & 8 Estate has turned out beautifully. At age ten, the 2011 is endowed with tremendous depth. Moreover, it remains very, very young. Blackberry jam, chocolate, spice, new leather and cloves saturate the palate. There are no hard edges or green notes here, just a very young Spring Mountain Cabernet that still needs time. Harvest took place in early November, meaning very, very late.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate sings of warm plums, cassis and violets with touches of bay leaves, black soil, pepper and cedar chest. The palate is full-bodied, firm and grainy with a lively line cutting through the intense black and blue berry flavors, finishing long with an herbal lift.
Saturated bright ruby-red. Black raspberry, mocha and sexy chocolatey oak on the nose. Pliant and plush, showing lovely breadth to the flavors of black raspberry, dark chocolate and sweet oak. Again, I find this tactile and easygoing for Spring Mountain cabernet. The finish features sweet dusty tannins, noteworthy breadth and very good lingering sweetness.
Vineyard 7&8's 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a wine of distinction and class. Aromatically expressive and layered, the 2011 emerges with freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet spices, licorice and graphite. A finely sculpted, chiseled Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2011 impresses for its energy. The mountain tannins need some time to melt away, but all the elements are in the right place. Freshly cut flowers and raspberry jam linger on the finish.
