Punteggio 93/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2025

Wild herbs and olive tones give way to gravel dust and musky blackcurrants as the 2022 Syrah Fracture captivates with its savory bouquet. The wine is more lifted than expected, with silken textures contrasted by juicy acidity as tart wild berry fruits and citrus tones slowly saturate the palate. Edgy tannins penetrate deeply, yet the mouth waters for more as a hint of licorice and a tinge of dark chocolate resonate. The 2022 Fracture has a lot to say but patience will be necessary. (EG) 93+

The 2022 Fracture is 100% Syrah and aims to provide the biggest and baddest Syrah experience possible. The nose is laden with concentrated boysenberry and mulberry aromas, with accents of oregano and hints of alcohol. The palate is staining, plush and sweetly fruited, wrapped in flavors derived from new oak. The finish is immensely saturated and lavish, concluding on a monotonous note of the same fruit profiles that drove the nose and palate.

A complex and profound nose with aromas of bramble berries, earth, bark and spices. The palate is full-bodied with seamless tannins, bright acidity and notes of graphite, coffee bean, roast meat and tobacco. A very complete, structured and classy wine.

The 2022 Syrah Fracture is all Syrah from the estate Booker Vineyard that was destemmed and brought up in all in barrel. This deep ruby/purple-hued beauty has a killer nose of blackberries, ground pepper, cured meats, and chocolate, with some classic Syrah wildness, iron, and sandalwood-like nuances emerging with air. It's medium to full-bodied, has terrific concentration, and ripe, polished tannins. It doesn’t get more quintessential Paso Syrah than this beauty, which will benefit from a year or two of bottle age and blow you away over the following decade.
