Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2023-2028, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Aug 2023

The 2020 Pinot Noir Estate was harvested a bit earlier than usual, on September 10 and 12, due to the breakout of wildfires. Fruit was destemmed, and the wine matured for 14 months in 20% new oak. "It was absolutely socked in," winemaker Thomas Savre recalls. "You couldn't breathe, see the sun or see the vines from the building," he says, describing the smoke that accumulated in the Willamette Valley for around two weeks. "It was harvested a touch before optimum," he says, "but we are happy with it." Although the resulting wine is on the leaner side, it has plenty on offer for fans of lighter, brighter Pinots. The nose offers a core of cranberry sauce and crushed red cherries with touches of tar, prosciutto and potpourri. The light-bodied palate is chalky and refreshing with earthy fruit and a spicy finish. Enjoy it over the next 3-5 years. 200 cases were made.
