The 2019 Pinot Noir Falstaff Vineyard is deeper ruby and offers a richer, masculine nose of ripe black (and some red) fruits as well as scorched earth, toasted spices, and some gamey, meaty nuances. It's another complex, rich, nicely concentrated Pinot Noir with ripe yet building tannins and outstanding length. It has some up-front appeal, yet my money is on it benefiting from a year or three of bottle age and keeping nicely through 2032.

Three different clones with tiny berries and tiny yields. Tech spec says 12.5%. Label says 13%. 75% whole cluster, 300 cases aged in old oak. Kutch's coldest site at 505 feet, 8.2 miles from the ocean. Aged for 15 months on lees. No racking. Subtle and – I'm sorry – burgundian on the nose. Such purity and mineral character. Lovely chalky texture on the finish. Neat and sophisticated. Drier rather than sweeter. You should love this already. Hint of violets on the end. (JR)
The 2019 Pinot Noir Falstaff Vineyard is a wonderfully complete wine that marries all the best elements of the Kutch style. Aromatically expansive, with striking fruit and bright, salivating acids, the 2019 is stunningly beautiful right out of the gate. Bright red cherry, blood orange, sage, mint, cedar and rose petal all build into the creamy, textured finish. In this range, the Falstaff stands out for mid-palate richness. The 2019 is simply dazzling. Don't miss it.
