Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2022-2042, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2020

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Songbook checks in as 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Merlot that comes from two David Abreu farmed vineyards: Thorevilos Vineyard, situated between the St. Helena and Howell Mountain, and Madrona Ranch, nestled in the foothills of the Mayacamas mountain range. This beauty boasts a saturated purple color as well as a complex perfume of sweet cassis and red currant fruit interwoven with notions of flowery incense, spice, green tobacco (there's a touch of green here), and loamy earth. With loads of fruit, full-bodied richness, ripe tannins, and integrated acidity, it's a beautiful wine that that will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and keep for two decades. There are only 396 cases produced.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Songbook is another stellar wine in this range. Soaring savory aromatics lead into layers of deep, lush fruit. Cedar, mint, tobacco, licorice, dried flowers and grilled herbs all race out of the glass. This is one of the most complete and thrilling wines I tasted in 2017; a stunning wine by any measure.

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2019-2035, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Nov 2019

Very deep purple-black colored, the 2017 Songbook Cabernet Sauvignon is a little youthfully reticent to begin, soon unfurling to offer compelling notes of chocolate-covered cherries, blackcurrant pastilles, baked black cherries and redcurrant jelly with wafts of fallen leaves, wild mushrooms, crushed rocks and bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers a good intensity of baked black berries and savory layers with a solid frame of chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and mineral laced.
