Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2014-2017, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Feb 2014

Translucent and ruby in color, with some lightening around the edges, the 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is a rock solid blend of 60% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault and Counoise, that was aged in a combination of concrete tank and foudre. Offering up a mature array of sweet spice, herbes de Provence and sweet cherries in its evolved, forward personality, it is medium-bodied, lightly textured and shows good freshness and purity. A classic Chateauneuf that’s drinking at point, enjoy bottles over the coming couple of years.

Deep red. Pinot-like fresh red fruits and minerals on the nose, with a floral accent. Focused and racy, with bright strawberry and redcurrant flavors dusted by fine tannins. Finishes firm, with a hint of garrigue and lingering tangy red fruits. This strikingly elegant wine will appeal to fans of more restrained Chateauneuf.

Dark red. Ripe, expressive and pungent on the nose, with aromas of singed cherry, dark plum, kirsch and garrigue Wonderfully fresh and energetic on the palate, with seductive baking spice notes accenting the lush, sweet, berry fruit. Warm, supple and long on the gently tannic finish.
