Note di degustazione
The 2015 Chardonnay Ellen Lane Estate reveals a stunning floral nose of orange blossoms and honeysuckle over a core of peach preserves, apple pie and green mango with touches of baking bread, toasted almonds and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is tightly wound of stone fruit and savory layers with a lively line of freshness and satiny texture, finishing long and perfumed. 457 cases were made.

Lemon confit and a host of floral overtones give the 2015 Chardonnay Ellen Lane Estate quite a bit of freshness to balance the natural richness of the year. In this vintage, the Ellen Lane is a bit more voluptuous than it often is. Paul Hobbs adds that the berry size was smaller than normal, and therefore the wine has higher extract. I imagine the 2015 will develop nicely in bottle given its density.
The 2015 Chardonnay Ellen Lane Estate has lovely aromatic top notes and overall freshness that play off the fruit nicely here. The Ellen Lane is often soft and open, but not especially complex. In 2015, the wine has an extra kick of complexity and dimension that is quite appealing. Lemon confit, white pepper, flowers and bright orchard fruit add lift.
