I always find a Côte Rôtie-like vibe in the Cuvee Christine Syrah from this estate, and the 2016 is no exception. Medium ruby/purple-hued with a perfumed bouquet of black raspberries, spiced meats, tapenade, white pepper, and flowery incense, this beauty is medium to full-bodied, has a supple, layered, sexy texture, ripe tannins, and a charming, balanced profile that's already a joy to drink. It's going to continue drinking brilliantly for 10-12 years, if not longer. I love the balance on this wine.

The 2016 Syrah Cuvée Christine shows just how compelling this vintage is at Donelan. Gracious and lifted, but showing striking depth, the Cuvée Christine is magnificently complete from the very first taste. A rush of dark red/purplish berry fruit, wild flowers, mint, pine, rose petal and spice builds as this classy, polished Syrah shows off its alluring personality. There is much to love about this arrestingly beautiful Syrah.
The 2016 Syrah Cuvee Christine is made from 100% Syrah, with 25% whole cluster, aged 18 months in 33% new oak. Medium to deep ruby-purple, it opens with broody notes of tar and damp earth, opening to notes of olive, warm blackberries, crushed black cherries and fried herbs with hints of bacon fat and violet—this is full of delicate, subtle layers. Medium to full-bodied, it has a lovely array of blue and black fruits in the mouth woven with savory and chocolaty nuances, framed by firm, dusty tannins and good freshness to carry the finish. 544 cases produced.
