Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2029-2045, Matthew Luczy, Wine Advocate, Apr 2024

The 2020 Pinot Noir Porcupine Hill offers an immensely sappy, pure and concentrated nose from the first pour. It shows off dehydrated black plum, cherry gastrique, tobacco leaf and mahogany aromas. The palate is tightly coiled and immensely concentrated, retaining impressive poise and clarity. The finish is monumental, with its deep, dark, cake-like fruit flavors and burly chassis continuously gaining in volume and persistence. This is a fantastic wine and is on an aging curve similar to the Santa Cruz Mountains roster, requiring at least another 4-5 years in the cellar with a further two decades ahead of it.

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2024-2032, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022

The 2020 Pinot Noir Porcupine Hill has more depth, substance and tannin than the straight Bearwallow Pinot. That means a few years in bottle are essential. It will be interesting to see if the 2020 comes together a bit more convincingly in bottle. Today, the edges are a bit jagged, but at the same time, there is good depth to the fruit. Dark red plum, orange peel, graphite, dried herbs and rose petal lead into the searing, savory finish.
