Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2024-2044, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, Sep 2024

Like its La Guigasse counterpart, the 2022 Le Grand Pin - Saint Théodoric is derived from vines planted on sandy soils (Lieu-dit Pignan Nord) and matured for 24 months in large barrels. Revealing a complex, dense bouquet of orange blood, cardamom, flowers, spices and dark cherries, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and ample with a suave texture, polished tannins and a fleshy core of fruit that pave the way to a mineral, endless finish. Crafted exclusively from Grenache Noir, this ambitious and exquisite wine possesses brighter acids than its counterpart, securing its place as my favorite. Produced at only 3,200 bottles.

Strawberry compote, pressed violets, orange blossom, raspberry and pinch of dried herbs unveil the alluring 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Grand Pin. Full-bodied, powerful and concentrated, the 2022 is almost at the end of its 24-month élevage in foudres , showing gentle structure. This is highly enjoyable and quite promising.

100% Grenache. Whole-bunch fermentation. Aged for 24 months in demi-muids. Certified organic. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Quite shy on the nose, with red fruits and spice. Wonderful energy on the palate and a firm, taut backbone of sandy, fine-grained tannins. The sweet red-fruit mid palate is brimming with vibrancy and vitality and a savoury, earthy note underneath adds complexity. Effortless on the palate but with great concentration of fruit. (AC)

The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Grand Pin looks to be outstanding and brings more richness and depth than normal. Black raspberries, mulberries, sappy garrigue, pepper, and some mineral notes all shine in this beauty, which is medium to full-bodied, has a seamless mouthfeel, and enough tannic structure and acidity to benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age. It's going to be brilliant.
