(13.8% alcohol): Dark red. Cool aromas of redcurrant, cedar, tobacco leaf, caraway seed and leather suggest moderate ripeness. Supple and juicy, juxtaposing a silky cherry syrup flavor with a slightly drying edge of greenness; offers modest depth and complexity. There's good mid-palate fruit sweetness here but the dusty tannins leave the palate a bit dry.

The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon (88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot) reveals chalky tannin in the finish as well as a disjointed personality. There are sweet cassis characteristics in both the nose and attack. It does not display the overall weight, ripeness, or follow-through found in the 1999. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2015. Tel.
