Note di degustazione
From the Montagna site on Pritchard Hill, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 2 is another 100% Cabernet Sauvignon release that was brought up in new barrels. A ripe, primordial bouquet of blue fruits, tobacco leaf, damp earth, and gravelly earth all emerge from this beauty, and it has a Graves-like earthiness and minerality, full-bodied richness, building tannins, and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from short-term cellaring and have two decades of longevity.

The 2017 Stones No. 2 is simply fabulous. Even with all of its intensity, the 2017 possesses tremendous perfume, vertical lift and tons of explosive energy to complement the Pritchard Hill fruit and structure. Red fruit, flowers, chocolate and mint add a striking upper register of aromatic intensity that is compelling. This is such a gorgeous and expressive wine.
This comes from Pritchard Hill and was aged 22 months in new French oak. Very deep purple black colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 2 begins with slowly growing notes of mocha, tar, chargrilled meats, charcuterie and tapenade over a core of stewed plums, baked black currants and black forest cake plus a waft of garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, it has a rugged texture of chunky tannins and just enough freshness to frame the muscular fruit, finishing long and earth laced. 400 cases produced.
