Note di degustazione
The 2018 Gigault Cuvée Viva is a little more controlled on the nose compared to 12 months ago. There is less obvious overripeness, but the figgy notes remain, and it feels just a little smudged compared to its peers. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and ripe, with supple tannins and a rounded, sweet finish. I would drink this over the next 5–6 years.

All Merlot, the 2018 Château Gigault Cuvée Viva was brought up in 20% new French oak and offers a pretty, forward, undeniably delicious style to go with lots of blueberry and plum fruits as well as notes of cedary spice and violets. It's nicely balanced, has ripe tannins, and just a charming, satisfying style. Coming from the Blaye region, it should evolve and drink nicely for 7-8 years.
The 2018 Cuvée Viva is a very pretty, understated wine. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, mint, spice, rose petal and cinnamon all grace the 2018. These light clay/sandy soils yield an understated, fragrant Merlot that emphasizes grace over power. The 2018 is a lovely wine.
