This wine is drinking beautifully right now. The 2012 Mille e Una Notte is a lot of fun to drink. You are treated to balanced aromas of black fruit and plum that are contrasted against spice, licorice and smoke. Nero d'Avola tends to show aromas of black olive, caper and aniseed in its natural state. You get some of those aromas here, but the black fruit is ultimately what shows strongest. This full-bodied red is endowed with rich texture and solid structure. It should continue to evolve over the next 10 years.

Nero d'Avola, Petit Verdot, Syrah and other varieties. Deep ruby. Creamy oak and dark fruit nose that is a tiny bit singed, and reminding me a little of Sicily of yore. Concentrated, minty cassis and cherry fruit palate and much more complex than the nose would have it. Quite a mouthful if super-supple due to the acidity. (WS)
The 2012 Mille e Una Notte is wildly expressive, grumbling up with a dark blend of plum sauce, gravel dust and sage, offset by a tinge of citrus zest. It is elegant, nearly velvety in feel and deeply textural, with depths of blackberry and exotic spices supported by a core of brisk acidity. Edgy tannins linger, along with a bump of juicy acidity as the 2012 tapers off with an herbal thrust, leaving the mouth salivating for more.
