Medium red, a bit brighter than the Latricieres. Lively aromas of red cherry, raspberry and minerals. More tightly wound than the Latricieres, with a solid supporting structure. Finishes longer and more complex, with suggestions of minerals and earth and enticing floral perfume. More open today than the Chambertin.

Very good full red. Pure but subdued aromas of cherry and licorice; much more reserved than the Latricieres. Conveys an impression of tightly coiled minerality and energy but this is rather inexpressive today in spite of its vibrancy. Finishes tight and discreet. The Rossignols' parcel of vines in the Gemeaux section of this cru produces a wine with more "interior force" wine, says David Rossignol, but it needs time. Finishes juicy and discreet.
Inviting sweet aromas of fruit, even toffee and oak spice. Vanilla and raspberry ice cream and a darker damson note coming through behind. Seems soft but there's a fine-boned structure. Fresh length and charm. (JH)
