1999 Clos de la Roche

Full bright red-ruby. Wild, briary red berries, sandalwood and a charred oak element that became a bit overbearing with aeration. Silky, rich and sweet, with very good penetration and depth. This has good material but seems quite oaky, and finishes drier than the Gevrey Combottes.
