Note di degustazione
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon offers a nicely balanced, medium-bodied, lengthy style as well as complex notes of mulberries, blueberries, plum, and flowery incense. It’s ready to go yet certainly has a decade of prime drinking. This is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and the final 1% Petit Verdot, aged in 80% new French oak. I’d be happy to drink a glass.

Somnium's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is even more exciting than the 2018, as the fruit speaks louder. Vibrant blackberries lead the way, ripe yet dark and tannic. Like the 2018, it's concentrated and rich, even a touch chewy, but it also delivers ample freshness and fruit on the long finish.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is the best wine I have tasted yet from Somnium. Ample and resonant in feel, the 2019 packs serious punch in both its fruit and tannin presence. Plum, leather, grilled herbs, tobacco, chocolate and savory herbs all open with a bit of air. The 2019 is quite potent and savory, and yet all the elements are very nicely balanced.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is without question the best wine I have tasted from Somnium. For the first time, the piercing hillside tannins that define this site on the lower slopes of Howell Mountain have been tamed. Inky and voluptuous, but still with plenty of structure, the 2019 is immensely promising. Blackberry jam, crème de cassis, licorice, cloves and chocolate are some of the many notes that build over time.
