2021 Morey St Denis Les Blanchards

The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Blanchards 1er Cru has a primal nose with bold red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit, albeit without the bandwidth of Hubert Lignier's Vieilles Vignes. The palate is slightly bitter on the entry with edgy tannins, mainly red fruit and a spicy though linear finish that needs a bit more substance and grip. Maybe it will coalesce with time in bottle…I am unsure. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
