Note di degustazione
90% Grenache of more than 80 years old and10% Syrah grown on big rounded pebbles soil and 100% destemmed. Very dark ruby with a little evolution at the rim. Medium intense smoky nose with hints of black olives and tarmacadam. Very rich and alcoholic palate entry with the tannins quite evolved. A real cocktail but with quite a bit of heat on the finish. A little bit middle aged at the moment with the elements not quite married but the first flush of youth over. Less sweet ad winning than the Cuvee Speciale. (JR)

Dark ruby. Fresh raspberry and cherry aromas are complemented by garrigue, minerals and cracked pepper. Gently sweet, with deep red fruit flavors and a bitter note of cherry pit. Becomes deeper with air, finishing with a strong note of blackberry and excellent clarity.
Inky ruby. Ripe red and dark berry aromas are complemented by licorice, dried lavender and tapenade. Bright strawberry and raspberry flavors are braced by youthful acidity and finish with excellent grip and sweetness. Became even more sweet with air, gaining an almost jammy blueberry quality but maintaining focus.
The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes (92% Grenache and the rest mostly Syrah with a touch of Mourvedre, and aged completely in old wood) has supple texture, a deep ruby/purple color, and a sweet nose of blackberries and cassis with some meatiness, new saddle leather, and spice box. The wine is full-bodied, opulent, and quite long. It should drink well for 10-25 years. Importers: Martin Scott Wines, Little Neck, NY; tel.
