Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2009-2019, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Feb 2007

The 2004 Corullon is a more structured effort from hillsdide vineyards. It has fragrant aromatics of flowers, cassis, raspberries, and a touch of minerality. The flavors are precise and concentrated with enough silky tannin to suggest that another 2-3 years of bottle age would allow further evolution. It should drink well for 8-10 years thereafter. This estate was started in 1998 by Alvaro Palacios. It has steep hillside vineyards and 60- to 100-year-old vines planted in 100% Mencia, a varietal indigenous to Bierzo, a cool-climate D.O. Relatively pale purplish crimson. Lovely lift and life – refreshing as a blast of mountain air. Transparent and lovely flavours but unfortunately this bottle is slightly corked. You can easily see how good the wine is though! (JR)

Ruby with a bright rim. Pungent aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, licorice and black olive, plus a hint of tobacco. Minerally, bright and focused, with assertive cherry and dark berry flavors complicated by earthy, musky underbrush and succulent herbal tones. Finishes with a note of graphite accenting the concentrated cherry flavor.
