Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Morey Saint Denis Les Millandes 2011 has an assertive, dense blackberry, mulberry and tea leaf-scented bouquet that offers very good intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There is an earthy tincture that lends it masculine personality and a feisty, quite peppery finish that leaves the tongue tingling. The oak becomes more accentuated with time in bottle, although it retains admirable depth and cohesion.

Very fruity nose and action on the palate (lots going on here!). Satisfying and quite early maturing. (JR)
Bright medium red. Black- and blueberry aromas are lifted by a floral quality. Juicy, tight and youthfully imploded, showing limited early fleshiness and sweetness. Flavors of herbs and brown spices are joined by salty minerality on the slightly dry-edged finish, which features dusty, chewy tannins. In an awkward stage today.
