Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2023-2030, Neal Martin, Mar 2021

The 2018 Bertineau Saint Vincent has a high-toned bouquet with black cherries to the fore, plus a top note of brine/seaweed. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, plenty of cedar-infused black fruit and a tobacco-stained, quite structured finish. Maybe a little more surly than I expected from barrel, but a fine Lalande de Pomerol that just needs a couple of years in bottle.

Lusciously textured, showy, black cherries, chocolate, mint and licorice come through in the nose and palate. Full-bodied and already showing its fruits and character with ease, this rich wine is ready to go. 90 Points

Lots of spice, dried herbs, subtle chocolate, and assorted darker currant fruits emerge from the 2018 Château Bertineau Saint Vincent, a medium-bodied, nicely balanced, textured 2018 with lots to love. I love its balance, it has ripe, soft tannins and outstanding length, and it's a wine that builds nicely with time in the glass. It's already approachable yet should keep nicely for 8-10 years.

The 2018 Bertineau Saint Vincent has turned out nicely. Lavender, spice, rose petal and sweet red cherry are some of the aromas and flavors that grace this expressive, open-knit Lalande de Pomerol. Time in the glass brings out hints of cedar, blood orange and pipe tobacco that add aromatic presence. I would give the 2018 a year or two to soften.
