2016 Chardonnay Coastal Region

The 2016 Premium Chardonnay spent eight months in barrels 20% is new. It has a generous, quite fat bouquet of light honeyed tones complemented by nougat and hints of toffee apple. The palate is well balanced and perhaps more linear and taut than the nose suggests. There is a subtle tropical theme, suggesting guava and hints of passion fruit, but the acidity keeps a rein on everything and it feels fresh and crisp on the finish. That said, it is probably a Chardonnay that I would rather enjoy in its youth than cellar for a period of time.
